Camp

Camp is going to the pigs...

It has been a while since we posted as we are super busy with camp so we wanted to talk about something totally out of left field...pigs!

I'm so happppppppyyyyyy!

As our campers know we are obsessed with being environmentally friendly here at camp. This year we have taken a huge step to remove thousands of pounds of trash from the landfill by bringing most of our food scraps to some local, hungry, pigs. We have been talking about this for a while but it took the impetus of our new chef, Bram, to make it all happen.

This little piggy went to the market...

The experience of watching the pigs run out to greet Bram in his big red truck was amazing. They have gotten used to his thrice daily visits with all sorts of goodies. We bring them everything except for meat and they demolish it in minutes. There was definitely an alpha pig who got his share of everything first as you can see in the below video.

That's all for today! Follow us on Instagram @watermonkeycamp for daily stories and lots of posts!

Spring cleanup is in full swing...

Winters in New Hampshire are snowy and fun but they definitely take a toll on the camp landscaping. From matted down grass to scattered tree branches to our messed-up sandy beach there is a lot to do to make the place presentable come spring.

I will not bore you with pictures of my thousands of piles of leaves and other debris but here are a few recent shots from my work around the property.

Just grabbing one of many loads of mulch. #trucklife

Spreading mulch with my sidekick Tuckerman...and those gorgeous boats.

Hard work paying off.

Lastly, a snowy winter means lots of melt flowing into the lake. We have never seen the water level this high! As you can see below it is flowing over our lower retention wall!

Watch out for that first step!

Rafa!

One of our campers from last summer came to us from the Dominican Republic. Yes, I had the same reaction initially: why would anyone leave the Caribbean for northern New England? Well because we are awesome.

Anyway...Rafa has been getting after it in the DR at a new wakeboard park in his hometown of Punta Cana. See below.

No, we did not edit that photo. The DR is just that gorgeous.
